The design and build process for custom super yacht air conditioning

Super yachts operate in some of the hottest parts of the World so ensuring the correct level of cooling at the project design stage is critical to delivering a successful yacht and happy, chilled guests.

Specification

Penguin offer a full specification service to calculate the specific heat loads of the yacht to give you the best climate control for the boats cruising requirements from Northern Europe to the Tropics and the Gulf.  Using our extensive experience together with feedback from boat owners and their crew we can match the needs of the owners and their guests with designers and boat builders ambitions for each yacht’s unique look and interior design – this often presents some significant practical challenges!

Precision manufacture

Climma marine air conditioning is built in Italy to the highest standards using the best materials for the job.  From highly corrosion resistant cupronickel heat exchangers cooling the refrigerant and water cooled invert driven condensers, through to super quiet ‘dry pan’ fan coils with ultra-quiet high output blowers, Climma always deliver quality components built for the rigors of the marine environment.

Project management and production engineering

Penguin provide complete engineering support throughout the build, producing detailed drawings and schematics, confirming specification requirements such as power supply, air flow requirements and water flow cooling and meeting levels of redundancy required.

Installation and commissioning

Penguin can manage and oversea the installation on-site to the level required by the shipyard or build team – running the complete install or simply providing engineering support and expertise as needed.

Once installed, Penguin commission and approve the air conditioning installation to confirm the chillers are set up correctly and the fan coils have the correct air flow etc, providing full systems manuals and records together with training for the yacht crew and engineers as required.
