Marine Air Conditioning Special Offers

Up to 40% off Climma Marine Air Conditioning Units

Penguin Refrigeration are offering excellent deals on certain Climma Marine Air Conditioning products. If you are thinking of fitting marine air conditioning  to your boat then look at the offers available on the Penguin Refrigeration website. With up to 40% off Climma compact units there are some real deals to be had.  If you are unsure exactly what you need to fit AC to your boat or require help with the system layout, Penguin can provide a detailed specification and quote for you.  All that is required is confirmation of the boat type and size, a rough floor plan to confirm the size of unit required plus any basic layout details that you have.

Climma Marine Air Conditioning is Straight forward to fit

Climma equipment is easy to fit, very reliable in operation and straight forward to maintain and service.  The key factors to consider when looking at installing a marine air conditioning system are:

1. Find a dry location to site the unit that is tucked away, but where you can easily duct the air to the delivery grill and also get good return air back to the air intake grill.  Good locations for sleeping cabins include under the berth or in the base of a wardrobe.  You can also locate the unit in the the lazzarette which will reduce the noise in the cabin, but to do this ideally you will need to box it in and then duct the air in and back from the sleeping cabin.  In the main saloon under the seating is normally the best place to site the marine air conditioning.
2. Locate the air delivery grills as high as possible – you are looking to project cold air across the ceiling of the cabin so the whole area is cool.  Low down outlets simply freeze your toes.
3. Keep the duct runs as short as possible and make sure the duct is straight and tight (not sagging).
4. It is just as important to get return air to your marine air conditioning unit.  Make sure that the air intake of the unit is not obstructed and there is a minimum 50mm gap between the intake and any bulkhead.  Climma supply air intake grills or you can relieve the wood work, create a slot or overhang to make sure you have sufficient air returning.
5. The marine air conditioning unit is sea water cooled and requires a sea water pump to circulate the water through the unit.  The sea water pump must be located below the water line close to the intake as they are not self priming. Penguin advise having a dedicated outlet for each ac unit onboard so you can easily confirm that there is sufficient cooling water going through the condenser on each marine air conditioning unit installed.
6. Run the electrics making sure you have dedicated breakers for the AC (and pump if running multiple units) and you are done.

Frigoboat Water Cooled Cold Rooms

Penguin have added the complete range of Frigoboat blown air evaporators, water cooled compressors and condensers for water cooled cold rooms and walk in freezers to the Superyacht product range on our website.

Water Cooled Cold Rooms Ensure Efficient Performance Anywhere in the World

With ever larger Superyachts and Megayachts the demands for catering on-board has never been higher. Most yachts of 50m and upwards are designed with cold stores and walk in freezer storage in addition to the galley fridges and freezers to provide sufficient storage capacity for distance cruising.

While many larger Yachts have more commercial style galleys with professional kitchen staff using standard catering fridges and freezers at Penguin we understand the importance of efficient, reliable refrigeration at sea which is why we always recommend water cooled cold rooms and walk freezers over air cooled systems for the following key reasons:

  1. Water cooling is more efficient, so the compressors require less power to achieve the same performance as an air cooled system.
  2. This also means the duty cycle is far lower for water cooled units in high ambient temperatures even when water temperatures are 28°C plus.
  3. Compressor and plant is far smaller in size can be remote mounted, reducing noise and vibration and allowing greater volume for the water cooled cold room
  4. Water cooled cold rooms dramatically reduce the Air Conditioning loads of the yacht by dramatically reducing the heat generated in the galley, a major bonus when the yacht is in tropical locations.

You would not consider fitting an air cooled AC system to your yacht – the same rules apply to your refrigeration!

Modular in Design Our Water Cooled Cold Rooms Plant is Easy to Specify and Install

Modular approach to the plant and equipment required to refrigerate water cooled cold rooms allows Penguin to easily specify the parts required to cool any Cold Room Walk in Freezer. Using our simple matrix Penguin can now specify both replacement components as well as complete systems for new and existing cold rooms and large volume freezers for Superyachts, Exploration vessels and ships cruising globally. Simply provide us with the volume of the space you need to refrigerate. The temperature you need to achieve and we will do the rest.

New Vitrifrigo 14 Litre Top Opening 12 Volt Fridge

Vitrifrigo will be launching their new 14 litre top opening 12 volt fridge at the NEC Motorhome and Caravan Show from 16th 21st October. The C14 is just 225mm wide making it ideal for small campervan and motorhome conversions, fitting where space is a premium or where kitchen work tops are narrow.

Compact Dimensions for a Top Opening 12 Volt Fridge

With a width of just 330mm and a depth of just 225mm the Vitrifrigo C14 is the smallest ‘built-in’ top opening 12 volt fridge on the market.  The compact dimensions means you can build a fridge into a space that no other 12 volt fridge will fit.  Either providing the option to fit a fridge to a small conversion, or allowing you to maximise the space for a bigger bed or other important components, without sacrificing the benefits of having a proper fridge. As a top opening 12 volt fridge will also provide far easier access, especially in a smaller campervan conversion where the bed can often obstruct a front opening fridge door.

Top Opening 12 Volt Fridge Dimensions14 Litre Top Opening 12 Volt Fridge

The fridge is supplied with the Danfoss BD35 compressor attached with 1.2m of refrigerant pipe to allow you to remote mount the compressor in a location that suits your design. The thermostat is also designed to be fitted externally to the box so that you maximise the full volume inside the cabinet.  The standard lid is supplied with hinges which can be removed if the lid is to be mounted directly onto the work top for a different hinge or lift out arrangement.

Alternative Top Opening 12 Volt Fridge

The C14 is designed as a very specialist top opening 12 volt fridge and this does reduce the volume of the fridge.  If you have more space available you may be better off looking at Vitrifrigo’s larger alternatives – C40L and C37L  For full details on the range of top opening fridges and freezers follow the link below to Penguin’s web shop:

Penguin Refrigeration PO9 1QY

The new HQ at Unit 2B Alexandria Park, has more than doubled both their office and warehousing/production capacity.  The move did not come a moment too soon as the old warehouse was full to busting with stock, taking more than three articulated lorries to move the bulk of Penguins fridge, freezer and air conditioning products the short distance from their old premises to the new site in South Havant.

Crucially the additional office space will provide Penguin with the opportunity to develop a full design office with aftersales service and support for the increasing sales of their luxury and superyacht ranges. The additional warehousing and workshop space also ensures Penguin continue to maintain high levels of stock for their core marine and vehicle products on which the business is built.
